‘It’s a cheaper way to own a Series 1’
1953 Land Rover S1 Minerva 80in Mark Tobin, Royston
Many years ago when Series One prices were affordable, I had a 1954 example. Now with basket cases fetching anything from £6k upwards, I had to look for an alternative. I am still a LRSOC member and through them I discovered this Minerva. Its main differences are it is left-hand drive, with a steel body, doesn’t have a drop-down tailgate and includes a side exhaust. They were sold as CKD to Minerva (itself a very interesting car company) and then built for export. They're very rare indeed, but if you can find one it is a cheaper way to get into Series 1 ownership.
