BL damp course
The recent letter from Richard Glynne-evans regarding water leaks in the boot of South African market Apaches reminded me of my own apprentice experiences at a BL main dealership in the Seventies.
Body seal leaks were not restricted to South African models, as I have vivid recollections of being shut in the boots of Marinas, Maxis, Minis and Allegros, armed with a torch, while my senior mentors drenched the outside of the cars with a hose pipe.
Once I’d found the leak, Dum Dum putty would be applied. No wonder there are so few BL cars left now.
