Stats and more stats

-

I know how the media loves statistics – ‘The hottest year since 1464’, ‘The wettest day since the last one,’ etc. So in an idle moment I put together some statistics on my own classic collection.

Number of vehicles: 9. Average age: 52 years. Oldest: 87. Youngest: 20. Average time in our ownership: 15 years. Average annual mileage since new: 474. Highest mileage: 88,286. Lowest mileage; 0. Most powerful car: 335bhp. least powerful car: 11bhp.

So, what does this all mean? Not a thing. What does matter is enjoying them and keeping them for posterity when, on that day in the not too distant future, all the statistics on CO2 emissions and air pollution and the average length of the toenails of the New Zealand Wallaby means we all travel around in a torpid stupor in driverless electric pods (mind you, in my experience some already do).
