‘It was being scrapped’
1990 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 Steve Bailey, Shrewsbury
I’m actually a dedicated Ford man, but I bought this Peugeot as a stopgap while rebuilding an Escort MKI. It had been rolled and was being scrapped but I saved it. The shell required some straightening and I stripped it out, readied it for racing and it has proven to be enjoyable to drive. I have bought a second 205 for spares. My prized MKI Escort is expected to be finished soon though. It has 260bhp so it’s a bit of a handful compared with the 205.
