Having bought a Mercedes-benz SL500 five years ago, Geoff Garton immersed himself in Mercedes club activities. Says Geoff: ‘I’d always fancied a CL, but as I’d already had a V8 Merc this one would have to be a V12. These cars are fast, refined, luxurious and very understated. They’re thirsty too; I average 19mpg and single figures in town. I do about 3000 miles a year and it’s cost about £2500 per year in maintenance, but that average should reduce over time as I get on top of everything.’
