WORK BACKWARDS…

-

1 Check metal pipes

Examine the metal pipes under the car for corrosion, kinks or damage. Replace with copper pipe of the same size, if necessary. Find and replace any rubber connecting hoses between metal sections.

2 Pipe security

Make sure the pipes are secure and can’t vibrate or chafe, especially if they’re soft copper. Use P-clips to replace weak or broken welded clips. Check for rust where pipes are held against the body.

3 Inspect fuel return

Fuel return hoses, if fitted, are as important as supply lines. Often, supply lines are 8mm and returns 6mm. Return lines may have one-way valves. Check that they work and are the right way round.
