12 Rust and rustproofing

Look everywhere for rust, but pay particular attention to the ‘trumpet’ and adjacent sections in the upper rear corners of the front wheelarches (shown here), all suspension and subframe mounts, the front bulkhead, the rearmost lower sections of the rear wings, the rear valance (especially in and around the seams) and the fluted sections of the doors and lower bodywork. Water leaks can lead to rust in the floorpans and boot floor. Apply cavity wax every few years and underbody wax annually.
