Keeping it clean in the Cotswolds
UK Detailing is a new company built from the established foundations of two older ones: Richard March’s Classic Details and Ian Sealey’s Demon Finishers. They are approved and recommended by, and provide the assessment and professional training for some of the largest detailing brands and associations in the country. They are pretty good at what they do.
The company has a dedicated detailing space in the heart of the Cotswolds, but within easy reach of motorway links, from where it can perform just about every aspect of the art, from maintenance washes to correction detailing, leather repair, interior valeting, headlight repair and more.
UK Detailing also provides training to detailers around the UK and Europe, operating the official accreditation schemes for some of the most prestigious companies in the world such as Rupes, Swissvax, and Koch Chemie. UKD also overseas the certification program for the largest industry body, the Professional Valeters and Detailers Association.
‘We provide a full show service,’ says Rich during PC’S visit. ‘This can include preparation, logistics, show day assistance, and presentation. We also undertake manufacturer commissions, and have recently been involved in the care and preparation of vehicles for both Porsche and Lamborghini.’ However, despite the high end commissions, Rich and Ian prefer to make dramatic transformations. ‘When a car comes in and it’s in a state, that’s when we can make the most difference,’
continues Rich. ‘To see paint that hasn’t been touched for years come back to life and make a car look magnificent again, whatever make it is, still gives me a buzz.’ It’s certainly a lot cheaper than a respray. But why add to a perfectly good business model by offering training too? ‘Because we are passionate about it. We have seen too many polishing “mistakes” in our time. Plus, there is a demand for it. People like to make things shiny. We are here to help them do it properly.’ Despite being based at the detailing studio, UKD also offer a nationwide mobile detailing service. From valeting through to full paint correction, enhancements and wet sanding – there’s not much that Ian and Rich can’t make look much, much better!
