I always thought the MG ZT-T was a lovely-looking car, so I bought one, as you do! It was always regularly maintained and the only problem I had was a leaky inlet manifold gasket, so an easy repair. I thoroughly enjoyed my five years of ownership of the car – plus, it won ‘Best Z Series’ at the MGCC concours for three years running!

Matt likes... THE BARGAIN ONE

I’ve never owned either a ZT or its Rover 75 sibling, largely because both models are still classed as being ‘too young’ for my classic insurance policy. Which is a shame, as I’ve driven enough of both over the years to know that, if you can seek out the proverbial ‘good un’ then you’ll enjoy motoring in comfort and style. Maybe one day.

Craig likes… THE FAST ONE

Brimming with character, the MG ZT was a beguiling car when new and is even more so today. Now is the time to buy. Numbers are in decline and already collectors are filtering out the best. The days of being able to pick up a decent one for under a grand will soon be gone – but right now, you still can. And if you can find one, you really, really should.

Danny likes... THE BEST ONE

I bought a cheap ZTT, sight unseen, from a dealer. It was a disaster – a dangerous one. The V6 had overheating issues and the rear subframe was so corroded that the springs were about to burst through it and hit the road. Dreadful. My other ZT (an auto V6) was one of the finest modern classics I have ever owned. Use this guide well.
