1950 MG YT Jerry Birkbeck, Warwick

-

I have always loved

MGS and my main passion is for the Y cars. I know that Brian Cox used to write about his YB and that certainly brought some prominence to the marque. Having owned a couple of Ys I became a member of the MG Y Register in early 1990. In 2009 I came across a three-owner

YT advertised in New Hampshire, USA. We were successful in our offer and imported the car to the UK. It has had a new interior trimmed by a former Longbridge

trimmer and a couple of panels resprayed.

A new hood was fitted, the side-screens recovered and the engine was rebuilt. A rare car with only 915 built with 235 known to have survived. It was a model with a short production run (1948-50) with the majority going for export. Ours was built at Abingdon around May 1950 (sadly the production records of the Y Type range were destroyed by the company following the closure in 1980).
