Talking (to) cars

-

Having re read the January edition of PC for the umpteenth time, I felt the need to write and say thanks for continuing to produce such an amazing magazine during the most difficult of times. Danny’s Editorial was moving and hit the spot, reflecting exactly how most of us feel at the moment. Then I read your piece about driving the E-types and saw the photo of you parked next to an old ’phone box. One of the few times I was able to get out in my P6 during 2020 was on the day it passed its MOT, when we drove to the Whitewell Estate in the Forest of Bowland and parked next to a working ’box in the middle of nowhere – photo above. Then I read Theo’s article about him talking to his cars, something that

I have always vehemently denied, despite what my partner says! However this week after a few weeks of inactivity I walked to where the Rover is stored, lifted its covers and said ‘Hello mate’. I turned round quickly to make sure that no-one was there and then sat inside savouring the Seventies interior and thinking that things aren’t so bad. This year must be better, mustn’t it? Of course it will. And if anybody suggests that I talk to my cars, I will still deny it!

ED It’s OK Michael, your secret is safe with us… and a few thousand readers, who probably do exactly the same thing with their cars!
