‘Stirling Moss sat in it!’

1968 Morris Minor Angie Taylor, Hampshire

-

This is the second Minor police car that I’ve owned. They were only 80 vehicles apart on the production line, and they both found me! This one belonged to Wandsworth Council, and I remember it being in the car park when I used to work there, so it’s full of nostalgia for me. Stirling Moss selected it to join part of a special display at the Goodwood Revival in 2018. He even sat in it!

It had lots of remedial work done to it by the council around 1990, including Ziebart underseal, but it’s still in lovely original condition. The engine was rebuilt 4000 miles ago, and there are a few bits of body that need doing now, but it’s all part of its history, so I don’t want to risk spoiling it too much. I book it out for police weddings sometimes, but it’s a bit stressful – especially when you remember that you’ve got genuine coppers in the back seat!
