MARKET ANALYSIS

- with James Walshe

The best MOT’D six-pot saloons are £2000-£8000 while equivalent ragtops cost anywhere from £1200 for a project to £11,000 for the best. Six-pot E30s carry a 25 per cent premium over equivalent four-cylinder cars, with four-door saloons the least valuable. There are no dogs in the range – they’re all superb so don’t overlook a mint fourcylinder car. Oh, did I mention the M3? Sixty grand for the best and about £20,000 buys a project. It’s in a different league – and for good reason. It is an epic thing but nowadays, it’s a collector’s car with prices to prove it. I’d say buy a really tidy 325i and smile!
