PERFECT YOUR IDLE MIXTURE

Today we’ll be adjusting the idle mixture, but before we do, we must ensure that several other factors are correctly set so as to ensure the engine runs most efficiently. We’ll start by setting the valve- and ignition-points clearances with the engine cold, then move on to ignition timing after a short run to warm the car up. Then we’ll set the idle speed, adjust the idle mixture, and finally reset the idle speed. We’ll be setting the mixture by ear, but you could use an exhaust gas analyser to double check.
