WHY BOTHER?

A car with a weak mixture at idle will likely run not. It will also run rough and may stall at junctions. An over-rich mixture will have a similar effect and will also soot up the spark plugs, reducing their efficiency, and expel unsightly and noxious black smoke from the exhaust.
