REPLACE METALASTIK BUSHES

We’ll show you how to remove and replace these bushes at home, and how to sidestep the need for a hydraulic press by using a special tool – available for many cars when they were new.

You might be able to buy one or borrow one from a club. Never use a vice to extract old bushes: the large force required may cause the vice to explode violently. In most cases you’ll have to do some dismantling. Where the suspension member is acted on by the road spring, you may have to compress or remove it. Tighten bushes fully only with the car resting on all four wheels on a level surface.
