I replaced the bushes as you suggested and it was actually far more straightforward than I’d imagined, so I went on to replace every bush on the car over a couple of weekends. The car now rides so much better and clonks and squeaks are banished. I visited my local tyre bay and had the wheel alignment checked and adjusted after a couple of days of use. It was alarming how much adjustment was required, especially as it had been set recently, which goes to show how overdue the bush replacement was.
