FINISHING TOUCHES

We’re on the home straight with our thorough overhaul of this Spitfire engine. We’re fitting the cylinder head, followed by pushrods and rockers. The head will sit on a top quality Payen gasket and we’re also using brand new studs and nuts, which will be torqued in the specified sequence. The next task will be to set the valve clearances, then the rocker cover can be fitted, completing the top end. To finish up, at the rear of the engine there’s the backplate, flywheel and clutch to fit. At the front, we need to fit and torque up the crank pulley, completing the build-up. Then the engine is ready to fit.
