LED BULB LEGALITY AMENDED

From Janury 11, a change to the MOT tester’s inspection manual means that classics using LED headlight upgrades could be failed if such a conversion has been done to an existing halogen headlamp unit. The manual now states that ‘Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.’ The new rules will come into effect from February 1.
