Famous auction house returns and showroom refurbished
After going into administration on April 17, 2020, Coys of Kensington is on its way back. It was recently purchased by the family office of the well-known enthusiast family, the Calleris.
The business has been restructured with full financial backing, but currently the potential for private individuals left out of pocket from the insolvency to be compensated is unknown. It is the first time the company has had a complete change in ownership since the Nineties.
Nick Wells, formerly a consultant to Coys, will partner the Calleris in the venture. Coys’ famous showroom in Richmond, London is currently being completely refurbished and will reopen early to visitors later in the year. The relaunched Coys will initially concentrate on private sales, brokerage services and valuations and already has a 2021 calendar of auctions and events planned. ‘We will be announcing our auction and event calendar shortly, both for the UK and Europe’ said Nick Wells.
