SPIN HER UP?
QI’ve not been able to drive my TR7 V8 as often as I’d like. I don’t like firing it up just to warm the engine, preferring a good run. So I`ve been disconnecting ignition and fuel pump and spinning up the engine on the starter until the oil light goes out, so that the engine gets some lubrication. Is this a good idea or am I potentially causing problems?

AModern oils do a pretty good job of clinging to surfaces over periods of time, so we don’t think you need to worry too much, however you’re certainly not doing any harm.
It’s best to do this on dry days to avoid the engine ingesting damp air. Don’t depress the clutch, as it makes the crankshaft bear heavily on its thrust washer before the oil has reached it.
