Wolseley Register
Celebrating 90 years of Wolseley passion in 2023
The only car with its name up in lights, the Wolseley Register is celebrating the unique feature for which most of its cars are known. It was 90 years ago that the first Wolseleys were exhibited at the motor show with an illuminated radiator badge.
Anyone who grew up in the Fifties and Sixties will be very familiar with large black police cars with a light at the upper part of the radiator grille. It had a sobering effect on drivers when heading home at night from the pub, when they saw the light in the middle of the rear-view mirror bookended by two headlights.
The register is a Uk-based car club, run by enthusiasts providing opportunities for all Wolseley enthusiasts to meet socially, obtain technical assistance and to enjoy their hobby, thus helping to ensure the preservation of the great Wolseley marque.
Steady growth
The register has been slowly growing, particularly since the pandemic, with membership numbers up by 15 per cent. It offers members a comprehensive range of spare parts for the cars from the Thirties to the very last model made in 1975. Local area groups, from Kent to Scotland keep members in touch with each other on a monthly basis, including attendance at local rallies, helping the club to thrive.
This year the Wolseley Register National Rally is being held at the home of British racing – Brooklands, with support from other BMC and BL clubs. The register is proud to announce that its guest of honour will be none other than Miss Bangers &
Cash herself – Sarah Crabtree. Why not join in the fun and come and see everyone with your Wolseley and see what the club can do for you!
