Adrian Flux Insurance

Still going strong after notching up half a century in the business

-

In 1973 Adrian Flux needed to insure his Spartan kit car, but came up against a problem. His passion for motoring wasn’t held back by the fact he had a disability, but by the fact that he couldn’t find an insurer to cover his needs and the custom modifications he needed to make to drive his car. So, knowing he couldn’t be alone in his search for equality, he did something about it. He soon realised that a whole community of home restorers and hobbyists was being undervalued, so he decided to form his own insurance brokerage with the aim of insuring the ‘uninsurable’ – starting with his very own kit car.

Very quickly, through word of mouth and a bit of

PR, Adrian Flux became the go-to insurer for unusual, restored, modified or imported vehicles. In 1980 the company launched its first classic car policy and the business never looked back. This is why Adrian Flux is the perfect partner for the home restos you read about in PC. It is also why it sponsors the Restorer of the Year competition.

What started small in 1973 grew into the UK’S largest independent insurance broker, employing more than 1500 staff members. The companies head office is at the historic East Winch Hall in King’s Lynn. Built in the 19th century by the Astley family, East Winch Hall is a local landmark and a building that Adrian Flux Insurance Services is proud to call home.

Today, the hall can accommodate more than 1000 employees across several brands in order to provide insurance for a huge range of needs including classic cars. The hall’s grounds are also used as the venue for the annual Flux Ball, attended by staff and friends, and the site of several motor shows and rallies throughout the year.

Adrian Flux covers everything from classic and vintage cars, right through to heavily modified sports cars, hot hatch insurance, high-performance car insurance, modified car insurance, 4×4 insurance, kit car insurance, grey import car insurance and much more. Adrian is sadly no longer with us but his son, David, continues to make sure that despite its size – Adrian Flux still carries on the values instilled by his father; to make sure the family ethos is at its core, and individual needs catered for.
