Practical Fishkeeping (UK) - - LETTERS -

I just wanted to write in and say how much I love using the Bug Bites food from Hagen. I used to use a mix of different flake foods, but on the strength of the reviews you gave it in the magazine, I picked up a few tubs and tried it out on my own fish.

The results have been incredible. I keep and breed south American fish,

mainly Corydoras and Apistogramma, which I have plenty of success with, but also lots of tetra types that I don’t. since I started using this food, my tetras have been non-stop spawning! I’ve had success with coffee bean tetra, Hyphessobrycon takasei, serpae tetra, H. eques, and even my Phoenix tetra, Hemigrammus filamentosus, have started laying eggs. I hadn’t had any activity from these fish at all until I tried Bug Bites.

It’s not like me to write a letter praising something, but this food has made such an obvious difference that I can’t help myself. other manufacturers take note – this stuff is amazing! Paul Newsom, email

Nathan replies: You’re one of several people who have observed increased spawning after using Bug Bites, Paul! Our own staff writer Steve Baker had his cichlids getting frisky after only a short trial of it. I’ll pass on the good news to Hagen!

Diseased fish, dirty tanks, geographical imposters. Not what we want to see.
