Habitat: Assumed to be slow moving streams and shallow parts of rivers with leaf litter

Water requiremen­ts: Soft and acidic to slightly alkaline water; 5.0-7.0pH, 2-8°H

Temperatur­e: 23-26°C

Temperamen­t: Relatively peaceful but will be aggressive when spawning

Feeding: Wholly unfussy, offer flakes, pellets, live and frozen Daphnia, and occasional vegetables

Availabili­ty and cost: Not a common find but does appear in specialist stores, prices from £7.50
