Origin: Niger River, Africa

Habitat: Assumed to be slow moving streams and shallow parts of rivers with leaf litter

Water requirements: Soft and acidic to slightly alkaline water; 5.0-7.0pH, 2-8°H

Temperature: 23-26°C

Temperament: Relatively peaceful but will be aggressive when spawning

Feeding: Wholly unfussy, offer flakes, pellets, live and frozen Daphnia, and occasional vegetables
