Origin: Native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan
Habitat: Slow moving and usually turbid water, sometimes vegetated
Tank size: 45x30x30cm
Water requirements: Aim for neutral to slightly alkaline water; 6.0-7.8pH, hardness 5-15°H
Temperature: Tolerates 15-25°C, aim for 20-25°C
Temperament: Peaceful species, sometimes territorial with its own, may be too nervous for a standard community tank
Feeding: Finicky and requires fresh and frozen Artemia,
Daphnia, mosquito larvae and microworm. Avoid bloodworm
Availability and cost: Quite difficult to find in stores but not too expensive, expect to pay from £3 upwards per fish
