Origin: Southern Myanmar. Habitat: Ponds and slow-moving rivers, especially where there is floating vegetation

Tank size: 80x30x30cm Water requirements: Soft and acidic to neutral water; 6.0-7.0pH, 2-12°H.

Temperature: 22-28°C. Temperament: Generally peaceful, males may spar or chase females

Feeding: Any dried floating flake or granular food. Live or frozen bloodworm, mosquito larva, Daphnia, Cyclops

Availability and cost: Not as commonly seen as it should be, you may have to ask your shop to order some in. Expect to pay upwards of £7 a fish
