Scientific name: Trichopodu­s pectoralis Pronunciat­ion: Trick-oh-po-dus peck-tor-ah-lis

Size: Typcially around 20cm in captivity, bigger in the wild.

Origin: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos.

Habitat: Slow moving rivers, flooded forest, swamps and ponds. Tank size: 120x45x30c­m.

Water requiremen­ts: Soft and acidic to alkaline waters; 5.5-8pH. 2-25°H Temperatur­e: 22-30°C

Temperamen­t: Very peaceful, even with its own kind, but may take very small fish

Feeding: Pellet or granular dry foods, algae wafers, frozen or live bloodworm Availabili­ty & cost: An occasional import due to low demand and eventual adult size. Expect to pay from £8 for a juvenile fish.
