Knifefish tend to be more sensitive to fish medicines than many popular fish such as tetras, barbs, and catfish. It’s a good idea to avoid formalin and copper based medication­s entirely, and if you do need to use other fish medication­s, check with the manufactur­er that they’re safe to use with ‘sensitive’ species like loaches and stingrays. If they are, they’re probably going to be safe with knifefish as well.
