Blacknose butterflyfish
Are they ‘reef safe’ or not? I’m casting a vote for ‘no’, and even if the fish don’t nail your corals, they’re certainly going to have a pop at the clean up crew. As crustacean feeders in the wild, they’re straightforward enough to wean on to shrimps, but most attempts to get them taking dried foods are doomed to failure. In the wild they act as cleaners, eating parasites directly from the skin of sharks. Avoid any pale individuals offered for sale.
