Rotala ramosoir ‘Florida’

-

A striking plant that is not yet widely cultivated and not often available for sale, either online or in stores. Rotala

ramosior ‘Florida’ is a slow growing stem plant which prefers slightly elevated GH levels, making it a great choice for tanks with limestone rocks such as seiryu stone.

When grown in ideal conditions the small, deep purple leaves combined with the green vertical stem results in a unique and highly coveted specimen. Under low lighting or less than ideal growing conditions this plant may develop green leaves and may have other issues such as rotting of the lower stem sections.

Due to the slow-growing tendency of this plant some hobbyists may take one stem, add plant weights to either side and lay the stem horizontally across the substrate to encourage growth of more side shoots. Alternatively, it can be propagated like any other common stem plant by trimming the top and replanting the trimmed portion into the substrate to root.
