costs ■ Ferry

We sailed Dover/Calais using P&O standard flexi-fare, giving us a four-hour window for sailings each way. The return fare cost £105.

■ Campsites

€153 for a total of eight nights.

■ Fuel

We covered 984 miles which cost £185 in diesel.

■ Tolls

We normally avoid toll roads in France, but the distances involved meant we did use some toll roads on this trip, at a total cost of €63 (£54).
