I was intrigued to read Nicholas Rose’s letter (issue 267). It describes almost exactly the experience I had with the dealer I bought our van conversion from two years ago, and the manufacturer’s response to warranty claims.

Without naming and shaming either dealer or manufacturer, several warranty issues had (still have) to be addressed.

In most cases, it took a while to get a problem acknowledged, days if not weeks to get a warranty claim submitted, weeks if not months to get the claim authorised, and then an endless wait for parts to be delivered.

In my case, I believe it all stems from poor build quality. All the issues could have been avoided if quality control was better. I have resorted to writing to the CEO of the manufacturer and that has had some effect – he is certainly aware

The writer of our Letter of the Month wins a pair of Milenco Quattro Levelling Ramps worth £40. They’re twice as high as many plastic levels, with a high-grip leading edge, and can be mounted back-to-back for levelling tag-axle vehicles. I enjoy reading Practical Motorhome every month, but I do feel the need to express my disappointment with your article on saving money (Know-how guide, issue 268).

Specifically, you suggest we should pack snacks and flasks of tea when going on walks, rather than using “pricey cafés”. As camping tourists, surely we have a responsibility to support local businesses and encourage the locals to welcome us to their patch?

Next time you go for a walk and only find cafés and pubs that have shut down, maybe consider why they had to close? Neil Prowse
