In-camera Black & white mode vs RAW
Most digital cameras have the option to output files in black & white. This can be a useful tool for reviewing each shot to see if it works as a mono image, but has its limitations in terms of the final photograph. For a start, outputting in mono only means that you may not be able to convert the image back to colour if you desire. But most importantly, no matter how good a camera’s processing is, it cannot compete with dedicated editing for mono using all of the data contained in a RAW file.
