Bike It 3.5-litre parts washer

Practical Sportsbikes (UK) - - Buying -

’VE BEEN fettling bikes in my garage for more years than my cake-addled brain cares to remember, but in all that time I’ve never had a parts washer. I’ve had and used them at work and always been impressed by how handy they are but for some reason I never got around to getting my own, instead relying on an old washing up bowl and degreaser to do the job.

But that changed several months ago when I acquired this one. It’s a Bike It parts washer, and very similar to many others of its size on the market. At 3.5 gallons and

I44 x 36 x 26cm it’s not a particularly big thing, but for my garage these are great dimensions. I can move it from the bench to outside if I want more light. Using an extension lead to operate the motor means I can use it pretty much anywhere.

It came with its own cleaning solution – it’s important to use the right stuff – and I’ve used it to degrease loads of stuff from carbs and calipers to suspension linkages. The constant flow of cleaning fluid from the nozzle onto the part your’re washing makes it a lot easier that doing it in a bucket. So, I’m very pleased. It’s an excellent little thing, well worth the £50 asking price. I just don’t know why I didn’t get one earlier.
