Proper kit

Practical Sportsbikes (UK) - - Show Preview -

Loved the article about Jim and his son as pillion, I applaud him for kitting Harry out properly too. Can I suggest that you try out an Oxford Pillion Pal? My wife and I use one and she finds it very comforting.

Now, can I ask for some advice on a GPZ900R please? I’m aware of the old carb icing issues – are there any other problems about from age related ones I should be aware of? Best mag out there.

David Reed, email

A 900R is a fine choice. Overheating can be an issue, as can lack of grease on the rear linkages. Stock exhausts rot and the left-hand sparkplug hole can fill with water if the bike’s left on its sidestand – JM
