NO TWO restos are the same. Our brace of builds this month are as different as our Gary and and an olympic sprinter. Granted both builds are Hondas – AVTR1000F special and a back to standard CX500 – but all similarities end there.

Matt Greenhall’svtr special (page 38) was a painful birth. Left to him by a mate who’d passed away, Matt rebuilt the Firestorm back to stock as a tribute to his friend. But its transformation from stocker to Moriwaki-powered supertwin was rockier than a Dakar stage. Fortunately Matt had the grit to see it through and his finished bike was definitely worth the aggro and expense.

The story behind the first resto this month (page 6) couldn’t be more different. Johnallen rescued his CX500 from being scrapped and he’s made the V-twin great again with just ingenious engineering and a commendably controlled budget.we like it.a lot.

Also in the issue, our own project X7 Gamma is so close to being finished we’re already reaching for our lids.the only thing to sort now is who will ride it first.and who is small enough...
