Honda CBR900RR Fireblade 1995-1996
893cc, 16v, dohc, inline-four Second-generation Fox-eye only just lags behind the original in appeal. With 124bhp and extra grunt it’s quicker than the YZF and more durably built. Grab one before prices get silly.

Suzuki GSX-R750W 1992-1996
749cc, 16v, dohc, inline-four Decent, usable road bike, very much old school and as brash and garish as ’90s bikes got. No ZXR/BLADE/YZF beater on track, but still has a strong appeal all its own. One for the GSX-R diehards.
Value now: £1200-£4000
Kawasaki ZX-7R 1996-2003
748cc, 16v, dohc, inline-four Successor to ZXR with 10bhp more. Arrival of ’98 R1 quickly made it obsolete but as a carb-fed ’90s superbike it’s a handsome, durable, popular classic.
Value now: £1800-£3000
