What I’ve learnt

“Invest in some good tools. A lot of people say they can’t do it as they don’t have the right equipment and, yes, it does cost money but if you buy a good socket set or something, it’s a good investment that’ll last you many, many years.”

“Having a good thread on an

internet forum helps – and helps other folk, too. The TZR forum has been very helpful, especially with contacts, but also information like with my carbs when it transpired there was a part missing that I had no idea about.”

“Go for it. A lot of people find it (taking on a whole bike rebuild) daunting but if you break it down into little pieces it’s very easy.”
