Yamaha’s first truly se­ri­ous at­tempt at a 600 sports­bike. Liq­uid-cooled with plenty of at­ti­tude al­though the FZR600’S fin­ish could only be best de­scribed as poor – a com­mon is­sue with all Yama­has of the era. This sur­vivor has been stood in one of the na­tion’s ap­par­ently now ubiq­ui­tous ‘barns’ for a num­ber of years and there has been an abortive at­tempt made to turn it into a race bike.

Gary says: A good haul for the money, re­ally, with loads of us­able stuff on the bike, which has been fit­ted with an FZR1000 Ge­n­e­sis front-end. There are race fair­ings with it too so it wouldn’t take much to build a fun track hack.
