From Aprilia technical manager to owner of the UK’S premier marque specialist has been a 16 year journey for Griff Woolley. In the decade since he left Aprilia and set the company up it’s gone from strength-to-strength and shows no signs of letting up “When we started out it was a slow burn for sure. There were many Monday mornings when I woke up wondering if Aprilia Performance would see the end of the week.
“Social media platforms had a large role to play in getting the business going. The RSVR.NET forum was crucial. Paul Bridgeland had set that up in 1998 and we were able to take it over and use it as a marketing platform.
“It’s always been my aim that people should come to us because they want to, not because they have to. These days people don’t have to buy bikes for transport, they choose to buy bikes for fun. I see our role as helping people to understand and get the very best out of their bikes.
“Our main specialism is the Aprilia V-twin and V4 four-strokes with a few RS250 two-strokes thrown in. We don’t tend to get involved with the scooters or 125s as we prefer to target the enthusiast end of the market.
“We have a lot of aftermarket items on our list now, all made in the UK – big-bore kits, rearsets, suspension linkages and so on, all of which are tested to the max on our mule bikes.
“We will be taking our tuning offering to an even higher level with the arrival of our new Dynojet 250i dyno.” Aprilia Performance: 01827 285500, apriliaperformance.co.uk
