1996 Yamaha TRX850
Owner: Tom Statham, Coventry Owned for: just over three years So far: made it how I thought it always should be What’s next? wait until it gets warmer and do some road trips
Manufacturers never seem to build a bike quite how I like it, so I had to modify one to how I thought it should be. I have a TRX850, so I bought a second one and set about it. Quite how it had an MOT I don’t know – it had loose discs and no rear brake. It now has an R1 front end, VFR750 back end, Honda front wheel, SV1000 seat unit and a two-intoone pipe with a carbon can. I also went digital with the clocks, a KOSO RXN1.
I was able to get parts – mainly spacers – machined up at work. The most expensive bit was the paint. Most of it came about from looking at what other people had done, and I brought their ideas together. It rides brilliantly, too.
