2005 Suzuki TDRGV
Owner: Garry Kemp, Whitby, North Yorkshire Owned for: since July 2017
What’s the story? Basis of the bike is a complete 2005 RMZ 250 motocross rolling chassis. It now rolls on a pair of Goose 350 alloy wheels, the front fitted with a one-off ISR fully floating disc and a Brembo 4-pot caliper from a Ducati Monster. Note spoke pattern of the front wheel didn’t match the rear in the early rolling chassis pictures. This has since been rectified. Rear suspension is an Öhlins unit (not fitted in pictures), forks will be revalved to suit road use and the pipes are, obviously, made to suit. Progress so far? A Suzuki RGV250 VJ22 motor has been fitted with the aid of a removable, onepiece engine cradle. The motor in the pictures is a test-fit mule with no innards. The ‘proper’ motor is still awaiting receipt of its rebuilt crank and re-plated barrels. What’s next? Currently trying to find space to fit all the bits an RGV requires (powervalve motor, thermostat, twin coils, reg/rec unit, battery, etc) that an RMZ didn’t have. Then there is the issue of the front mudguard, auxiliary fuel tank, indicators – the list goes on. And on.
