WHAT TO LOOK FOR
It’s a 1990s Honda: reg/recs have got five years – tops. Carry a spare under the seat. And don’t skimp on the battery.
Carbs are tightly packed in the V of the V4, and once they’ve been left standing with fuel in them they’re a sod to clean out thoroughly and get running smoothly again. And they’re tricky to set up.
The eccentric rear hub adjuster can get a bashing from inconsiderate owners attacking it with hammer and drift; anything but the right tool.
The current draw from fitting a pair of 55/60w headlamp bulbs without a relay can eventually fry the headlamp switch.
