F1 ring­mas­ter Bernie Ec­cle­stone warned that GP bike racing would not only die, but be dead and buried if the FIM didn’t hand him the TV rights. Even­tu­ally Bernie got his wish, but by ’92 the FIM ended the con­tract and awarded the rights to Dorna in­stead. Mo­togp has flour­ished since Ec­cle­stone’s exit.
