What’s the story? My GSX-R is a bit of a mismatch of parts; 1997 frame, ’98 motor with ’99 carbs. I’ve got an SRAD already, so I fancied building this one to create something a bit different. I’m going with a satin black look with this one. In terms of parts I’m going to keep it pretty much standard apart from an undertray and a few details here and there.

Progress so far? I’ve always hated the original silver, and with what I have planned the satin black is gonna look awesome. I’ve finally found an OK radiator and spruced it up. Suzuki wanted £707 for a new one – I got this one for £30. A light mist of satin black and now with most fins straightened it looks good. I’ve also been cleaning up the brake discs, respraying the carriers; it’s all starting to come together and looks really good.

What’s next? I’m working through it methodically, cleaning, fixing and painting as I go. Now that the brakes and wheels are pretty much there, it won’t be long before I can get the rolling chassis together and the motor back in the frame. The bodywork is still to finish. I’ve rubbed it all back, and done the prep work, so next up it’ll be paint proper and lacquer.

Wet and dry and back to the bone for the satin black shoot
