1991 Suzuki RGV250M
Owner: Sam Upton, Bristol Owned for: 20 years
What’s the story? I’ve owned my RGV for more than 20 years. After seeing them in mags of the time I knew I had to have one, so on my 17th birthday I treated myself to a low mileage example showing just 7000 miles. I rode it for 1100 miles and then seized it. That was 2006. I removed the engine and that’s how it sat until I spoke to a friend at this year’s TT who has helped me out with vapourblasting (Cheers Mike).
Progress so far? More than the wife will ever know! Now the cases have been blasted the motor is starting to come back together. I’ve even managed to locate a brand new set of genuine side fairings still in the sealed factory box. Powdercoating is courtesy of Warren at Bristol Motorcycle Power Coaters.
What’s next? Hopefully it’ll look much better when it’s finished. I’d quite like a Tyga bodykit and a set of Nikkon pipes for it too. I have a GSX-R shock that I’m going to have resprung plus some Hel braided lines. More importantly, it will get ridden as it’s supposed to once it’s finally finished.
Rods poking out the cases – in a good way
After 12 years it’s all coming together again
