THE FULL TREATMENT
Brendan Sutton, Z1000 MKII50
When Brendan found his old MKII on ebay, there was no way he wasn’t going to buy it back.and he set his mind on turning it into something very special when the deal was done.
“I thought ‘Do I tell him it’s my bike?’, but I did and he was as pleased as I was.”after escaping a potential mark-up from the vendor, Brendan then spent a small fortune on his prodigal Zed.with blinding results.
“Yorkshire Bank still owns half of it,” says Brendan, and he’s not shy of revealing he’s spent £23,500 on getting it to this stratospheric standard. It’s all very well gathering the right Sanctuary bits, another matter getting them to gel.and this is where Brendan chose the right people for the jobs.
“The frame went to Lester Harris, the engine to Ray Debben,” says Brendan. Known quantities with deseved reputations. “The paint was a bit of a shot in the dark. I said to the painter ‘I want a green candy’ and it came back spot on,” he says.the whole bike is pretty much spot on. “There’s nothing I’d change. I toyed with the idea of Dymags, but that’s about it. She’s a little bit fast on the steering because the back end’s tipped up a bit, and with 100bhp at the back wheel, that’s plenty enough power too.” All power to Brendan – standout bike.
