What do you expect with almost 190bhp?
Katana action at Phillip Island, and we do mean action. Steve Martin is the rider
Not all Katanas are equal. Especially the TBR Racing Kats campaigned in recent years at the annual Phillip Island Classic meeting in Australia. These Suzukis have the lot: rigid handmade frames, 180bhp-plus 1294cc motors and, in the hands of former WSB stalwart Steve Martin, winning pedigree.
Despite struggling to keep the front wheel on the ground, Martin (pictured) showed a field of ex-gp and superbike aces his back wheel in 2011 – what you’re witnessing here is a fourth, yes fourth, gear power wheelie. Try that on a standard Katana. One of Steve’s bespoke GSX chassis made it to the UK in early 2016 and has since formed the basis for an equally stunning race bike. And we’ve ridden it. See it from page 60.
