“I’ve owned my RC45 for about 15 years. Here in Oz they’re quite rare with just 12 being imported by Honda Australia, three of those were raced by Honda Australia winning the Aussie Superbike series back-to-back in ’94 and ’95. We got full power bikes here and out of the box I quite liked it, I then fitted a 17-inch front rim and an Öhlins Superbike shock/linkage and ride height adjuster, Öhlins do two different rear shocks, a street shock and the Superbike shock with linkage and dog bones.

“Fitting this and the 17-inch front gave amazing handling. Over the years I have basically fitted the full HRC superbike kit to my bike, engine mods, radiators, 20mm longer swingarm/hrc shock and so on. These mods have transformed the bike. Sure it’s not on a par with the latest and greatest, but in this spec it’s awesome.

“Once fitted with the HRC parts the bike makes sense, but as I’ve found over the years with homologation bikes and cars, in standard form they aren’t much cop on the road and not much cop on the track unless the race kit is fitted. I have been a diehard RC45 fan since they first came out and as far as I’m concerned is the only bike I will ever need.”
